A Note From Pastor Shad about "Can I Ask That?" Sunday (February 19th):
More often than not, questions are the beginning of faith. We start by wondering, could there be a God? If there is a God, how does he feel about me? When we turn to scripture with our questions, those questions have the opportunity to grow into faith.
David, who was called a man after God’s own heart, asks in Psalm 13:1 “How long Lord? Will you forget me forever?” and in Psalm 22:1 “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” And in John 3 Nicodemus brings honest questions to Jesus, “How can anyone be born again?” King Solomon asks for wisdom, and it pleases God.
Even with these examples and others from scripture, we sometimes think that faith means we need to have it all figured out. Sometimes we’ve even told ourselves that we can’t ask questions of God or in church.
So, on Sunday, February 19th we are going to try, “Can I Ask That?” Sunday. It’s not Bible trivia day. It is about our authentic questions. Join us at 8AM or 9:30AM or 11AM!
Some questions will have answers, some will not. We will have a way for you to submit questions and together we will take those questions to God. We are hoping the questions will be either from your life of from our recent studies in Isaiah, Galatians, and First John. So come as you usually do, bring a friend and your questions. We remember that God is faithful and true, he never leaves us without hope when we turn to him. Remember Psalm 13 that begins with “How long Lord? Will you forget me forever?” Psalm 13 ends this way, “But I have trusted in your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in your deliverance. I will sing to the Lord because he has treated me generously.”
